Kensington Palace opens its doors to the public on March 26 where Diana fans will see five iconic dresses worn by the Princess of Wales

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, may have grabbed attention with her elegance and impeccable wardrobe over the past year. But one public figure's iconic style that will never grow old is that of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

To honor the fallen royal, dresses worn by the princess have been put on display at her former home at Kensington Palace in London, the Daily Mail reports.

Dubbed "Diana: Glimpses Of A Modern Dress," the collection includes everything from cocktail dresses to formal gowns and evening wear, the Mirror reports.

The dresses on display will include a black silk shift evening dress by Versace, a black and white cocktail dress by Bellville Sassoon Lorcan Mullanyan and an Elizabeth and David Emanuel designed black silk taffeta gown.

Patrons will also see an ivory silk formal dinner dress and a fuchsia and purple silk chiffon dress, both designed by the late Catherine Walker.

Kensington Palace will also showcase art exhibits and a section dedicated to the life of Queen Victoria, notes TIME magazine.

The palace itself just recently reopened after undergoing a $18.8 million renovation, according to the Telegraph.

The exhibition will open to the public on March 26 and will coincide with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this year.

In disagreement with many of the posters on this thread, I found the wallpaper, accompanying the dresses, very stylish and rather intriguing.

I saw the wallpaper, last week in Kensington Place, before the official re-opening of the palace after refurbishment.  Kensington Palace is now an intriguing and thought provoking mixture of the contemporary and ancient that will certainly surprise a few American tourists, the wallpaper (which I like), fits in just fine.

Diana's dresses aren't news, the refurbishment of Kensington Place is.

I know she had her problems, but the wall paper sure does present a glum and VERY unhappy depiction of her. She was dubbed Shy Di, not the Depressed Princess.

I like the idea, although along with the wall paper I would have liked to see actual dresses displayed, to portray the warmth and elegance she posessed in person.

Let is go man......how desparate are you for an article? Why the rehashing of this stuff over and over again....

The horsy Duchess of Cornwell's rags will never attract attention, ever!!!!

That wall paper looks dreadfully tacky. Diana had a beautiful style and warmth about her.

Indeed she was .. I love to read about history and royal history .. She helped so many people .. and it's a shame how the royal family treated her .. She was the best of the lot .. and they didn't deserve her .. not one bit .. and I would bet good money that they are glad that she is gone .

I'm not sure why this display is such a big deal when I've been to the display that travels around and includes her wedding dress.

Perhaps it's "such a big deal" because this year is the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Also England is hosting the Olympics this summer and the display will draw in tourists.

How many years has that Plastic Princess been dead? Her own brother turned his home into a Diana Museum and charged people to walk through it. The people's princess??? She was really nothing more than a clothes horse who dressed up for a charity or two when she wasn't shopping. And her daughter-in-law is proving to be just as shallow.
04:54 PM on 03/21/2012
Clearly you don't really know who Diana was. Yes, she had a lot of clothes but as the wife of a Prince it was expected of her and she wasn't really happy about it.

She loved her clothes. She was the first Royal to ever have her clothing designed sleeveless, strapless. low cut and stylish. she just didn't like trying to dress to make Charles proud while he hopped in and out of the bed with Camilla. She is rotten to the core. If I had been Diana, the moment I found he was cheating with cowface Camilla, I would have persued every good looking man in England. With her beauty, her style, her big blue eyes, and her perfect figure, she could have had any man she wanted. Of course she played it perfect. She waited until she had two babies to leave him.

She wasn't happy about her clothes? Are you serious? She had her strong points, to be sure but she was shallow and vain.

Do you remember her funeral. Funeral for Mother Teresa 2 weeks later. Two very different funerals. An adultress and a saint....................Go figure.

.... and since when, as you call her an adultress, does that make her any less human. Or did you forget all the good she did? Even Jesus was in love with Mary Magdaline who was a prositute. Did he not forgive her. Is any of us without sin? As funerals go they are at the hands of those that we leave behind to handle ... if our wishes are granted, and there is a will ... then maybe we have a say. I am sure Mother Teresa had her say as to what she wanted. I hardly think Diana had any say at all since she had no voice while she was alive. Its all pomp when it comes to the Queen. Remember the world is watching ...
10:16 PM on 03/22/2012
This is the first I've heard about Mother Theresa being an adultress!
03:25 PM on 03/21/2012
The wallpaper depicting Diana is an insult to her beauty and reveals someone's desire to portray her other than who she was. Artful caricature is one thing. Gross misrepresentation is another.

Agreed. This is how ones perception defines another. How sad.

Think the royals had something to do with the wallpaper, they never liked her especially the queen.

That was my first thought. They have her looking gauntly, depressed, like something out of a cartoon tabloid.

I will go. I have been to a dress exhibit before at KP. The Queen's dresses were the most spectacular. She was so small when she was young. Both ladies dresses were so structurally engineered, the clothing is spectacular. Shoes, also. Cannot wait for the Queen Victoria stuff. Princess Margaret had died and we were able to see her apartment; the drawing room walls and built-in cabinets/shelves were painted aqua blue - like the ocean.
