Boston University Sorority Sigma Delta Tau Suspended While Under Investigation For Alleged Hazing Incident

Boston University officials have suspended a sorority at the center of an investigation for alleged hazing.

On March 3, BU campus police found three members of Sigma Delta Tau on the street. The women were heavily intoxicated and needed to be transported by ambulance to a hospital.

Amidst reports that the women may have been forced to drink as part of a hazing ritual, the school launched an investigation into the sorority and suspended its activities.

An email sent out on March 8 by Panhellenic Council President Marisa Feehan to sorority sisters announced SDT was no longer affiliated with BU or the Panhellenic Council.

"This was not an action of the entire chapter, but of a select group of girls," the email stated. "They by no means reflect the overall character of Sigma Delta Tau and anyone that you may be friends [with] within the chapter."

BU officials believe a fraternity may have also been involved in the alleged hazing incident, according to the Daily Free Press. They have not publicly named the frat.
