Chicago Man Accused Of Threatening Mayor Emanuel

A Chicago man was ordered held lieu of $750,000 bail Thursday after allegedly making a telephone threat against Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

King Heard, 64, of the 4500 block of North Sheridan Road, allegedly called 311 on March 7 and made the threat, Fox Chicago reports:

He told the operator that Emanuel “don’t own Chicago. I’m going to vacate everybody and I’m going to lay him down,” according to Cook County State’s Attorney spokesman Andy Conklin.

Heard allegedly made other "garbled statements" during the call, according to NBC Chicago. Police called the number, which was captured on the operator's called ID, back and recognized Heard's voice on the answering machine.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Heard made a similar threat against an official in 1991, for which he was sentenced to 30 months psychiatric evaluation.
