Will Ferrell To Play 'Crazy' Dad

Will Ferrell will go from playing a Southern congressman to an overprotective dad who does everything in his power to get his kid into the best college. According to Deadline, Ferrell is set to star in the film adaptation of Crazy U: One Dad’s Crash Course In Getting His Kid Into College.

Written by Andrew Ferguson, senior editor of The Weekly Standard, the book is a chronicle of his own attempts to get his son into a suitable school. In the book, Ferguson adventures into the ever-changing world of college admissions and faces considerable challenges from preparation for the SAT to admissions interviews. He even goes as far as seeking out an expensive college admissions guru for a leg up in the process.

Adam McKay and Jessica Elbaum of Gary Sanchez Productions will also have roles in the film.

New Line Cinema recently acquired the rights to the book, which was published in March 2011.
