An Unlikely Friendship Between A Rottweiler And A Group Of Cows (VIDEO)

Posted: 03/27/2012 9:53 pm Updated: 03/28/2012 11:50 am

Rottweilers have a pretty bad reputation. With their vicious bark and sharp teeth, they make for excellent guard and police dogs.

But now a Benedict Arnold in the Rottweiler community is blowing everyone's cover.

He was caught red-handed for utterly adorable behavior in this YouTube video which shows the dog approaching a group of cows.

The cows are understandably wary of the newcomer -- but after a couple of sniffs and plenty of tail wagging, the Rottweiler shamelessly allows the cows to lick and nuzzle him.

His friends must be so embarrassed.

I have 2 Rottweilers - one my son got for year the Christmas he was 16 when he asked for a brother, sister or puppy (he got the puppy and named her Rotty). The other we got from K-9 Kastle 4 Paws Rescue in Pahrump, NV so that Rotty had a playmate when she was about 2 (she was very sad and lonely after we had to let her other 2 pack mates/"sisters" cross the Rainbow Bridge). So Rotty got a brother named Raider - he had been left in a foreclosed home. It took a while for him to trust us, but now he is the biggest love bug ever, especially to children. When we lived in Las Vegas the neighborhood kids would come to our door asking for turns to take them for walks - everyone knew our dogs and loved them. It was so awesome! Rotty and Raider give me so many smiles, hugs and laughs. Never before did I imagine owning a single Rottweiler and now I have 2. I have been blessed!

My rottweiler's only chance of protecting me is if the burglars hate being licked so much. Granted that mine is not the smartest dog; however, he is better because he is so full of love and kindness.

My wife and I often take our rottweiler with us on our walk to pick our son up from school. All the children love playing with my big, loving dog. The whole neighborhood welcomes my dog to baseball practices, parks, and going trick-or-treating.

Hopefully, my dog has changed many peoples minds from the common stereotype that rottweilers are mean by nature.

In the end we respond well to love and go on the defense when provoked. This is true with most animals of which human beings are included. We watch how those around us react to the same environment and learn from that.

Be careful what you teach by example to your children.

Adorable. The rottweiler kissing the cows....ahhh...so sweet.
I grew up on a farm, and only saw this happen with collies and baby calves.
This one is adorable. Absolutely adorable. Thanks for sharing here.

We recently added a rottie to our family. He is the biggest baby ever. They are big dogs with great big hearts.

Oh, here's another video of a rottweiler and some cows. Instead of going aww at the video, I think you'll laugh yourselves silly. :)

Aww...that's just so precious! Whenever the neighbor's stray chickens and cats jump over our fence and say hello to my boys, Odin the rottie would just look at them, yawn, and go right back dozing off. My rescued lab Chen is the one that chases them off when they start...erm...making deposits in our yard. :P

Please stop giving Rotties a bad name, HP! My Rottie is two, just an adolescent in Rottie years, is kind, gentle, loves his chihuahua 'brother', loves dogs, cats and people as long as I'm okay with them. He's the most loyal, steadfast, mellow, and empathetic dog I've ever had, and at 49 and a dog-lover since birth, I've had more than a few.

So here is this big 90 lb rottie lying on the floor with a bunch of little guys all over him lolita snuggled between his paws.

During visits to my mother's house with our Rottweiler, her cat has surprise attacked my dog on a few occasions; even then, my dog has never even growled at another creature. Not very smart, but he is so full of love and happiness.

With a handful of extreme exceptions - where the animal had been the victim of so much physical and psychological abuse that they had lost the ability to trust - inside every large breed dog is a tiny lapdog that wants so badly to jump into people's laps to be hugged, cuddled, tickled and carried.

I've had Rottweillers for 25 years, raised my kids with them, very protective but not aggressive. It is very important an animal that large and powerful has a good bloodline and is trained well.

its more important for the human to have a good bloodline! ; )

Your right there ,dogs learn from the alfa temperment ,if you give off fear it responds, if your calm cool caring the animal will do like wise .I think its the same with all animals.

My first rottie - a rescue due for euthansia till I took him - turned out to be a most amazing ambassador for his breed. He was protective - he would come to the door with me and just sit and wait. He did not bark, growel. Just waited. If my signal were this is a friend, he would walk to his corner and sit. If he read otherwise - his body language would change - and believe me - the person left ASAP>

Not so odd as Rotties are used as herd dogs.

We have a reluctant Rottie, too. His name is Joey. He is a sweetheart, but so shy. He loves other animals, but is shy with humans until he knows them.
