'16 And Pregnant' Season Premiere: Pregnant Cheerleader Learns Tough Lesson (VIDEO)

'16 And Pregnant' Premiere: The Pregnant Cheerleader

MTV was back with a fourth helping of "16 and Pregnant" (Tue., 10 p.m. ET on MTV), kicking off the new season with back-to-back episodes. In the first, viewers were introduced to cheerleader Mackenzie and her boyfriend Josh, who has ambitions to make it big on the rodeo circuit.

Only he's already had a few too many concussions, though his most recent and the neck injury he suffered in the episode were from a car wreck. But his mental mix-ups were nothing compared to Mackenzie donning that full cheerleading outfit, thinking she can still cheer with the best of them, even at full term.

The second episode spotlighted Katie and Joey, who proved just as overwhelmed in their current situation. Katie gave up dreams of college, while they both wound up living with his parents during the pregnancy and afterward. She wanted to move away, but had to learn quickly that her own ambitions have to be put on hold now.

The point of "16 and Pregnant" is not to glamorize these expectant teens, but rather to show how difficult pregnancy makes their lives, and hopefully serve as a deterrent to other teens. And maybe also as an unofficial audition tape for future volumes of "Teen Mom"?

The new season of "16 and Pregnant" continues on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.
