3 Men Fatally Shot Inside South Side Apartment

Three Chicago men were fatally shot inside an apartment on the city's South Side Tuesday evening.

Terry L. Brown, 34, was found dead inside the apartment around 11:15 p.m. at 6349 S. Evans Ave. in the city's West Woodlawn neighborhood and an unidentified man was found dead on the house's back porch with multiple gunshot wounds, Fox Chicago reports.

A third man, Julius Benford, 29, was found in the apartment's kitchen with several wounds and transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Fox.

According to the Chicago Tribune, nearly two dozen bullet casings were found inside the apartment from the back porch, leading into the home. No motive in the shooting has yet been offered but a source told the Tribune that narcotics and cash wrapped in plastic were found inside the apartment.

No one is yet in custody in the shootings and police are investigating the triple murder.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel last week commented on recent gun violence in Chicago, including the shooting death of 6-year-old Aliyah Shell in the city's Little Village neighborhood, saying"our streets do not belong to gang bangers." The city recently reached the 100-homicide mark for 2012. Chicago had not reached 100 homicides in March since 2004.
