'Safety Not Guaranteed' Trailer: Aubrey Plaza, Jake Johnson And Mark Duplass Star In Festival Favorite (VIDEO)

WATCH: Aubrey Plaza And Jake Johnson In Charming 'Safety Not Guaranteed' Trailer

How do you sell an indie romance that started out as an Internet meme? By turning into the skid. The new trailer for "Safety Not Guaranteed" -- the charming Sundance Film Festival debut with Aubrey Plaza, Jake Johnson and Mark Duplass -- focuses on the bizarre 2005 classified ad that promised the responder a chance to travel back in time.

"Wanted: Someone to go back in time with me," stated the ad, which co-star Johnson ("New Girl") reads aloud in the film's trailer. "This is not a joke. You'll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. Safety not guaranteed. I have only done this once before."

Of course, there's much more to "Safety Not Guaranteed" than just the prospect of time traveling: Plaza's Darius, a magazine intern, forges a relationship with the ad's author, Kenneth (Duplass). Is the eccentric supermarket worker completely insane? Kinda insane? Not insane at all? Those are the questions the film attempts to answer, all with a sweet-sad tone reminiscent of Wes Anderson's best work.

Featuring breakout performances from Plaza ("Parks & Recreation") and Johnson, "Safety Not Guaranteed" arrives in theaters on June 8. Watch the trailer above and head over to Apple to check it out in HD.
