Pregnancy, labor, and delivery have become increasingly medicalized in recent decades, leading to criticism from multiple factions. For instance, the rate of cesarean section in the U.S. (and in many other developed nations) draws fire from the World Health Organization (WHO), which suggests that the c-section rate should not rise above 15 percent.
