Li Wei: Gravity Defying Chinese Performance Artist (VIDEO)

Watch: China's High Flying Artist

We always thought that Ai Weiwei was the bravest artist in China. But performance artist Li Wei, here seen propelling himself high into the clouds, is giving Ai a run for his money. In an interview with "Metro", the artist says, "I am fascinated by the unstable and dangerous sides of art and I hope my works reflect these aspects."

Li Wei works with photography, performance and installation art to create gravity-defying visions you have to see to believe. In the video above he soars into the sky, propelled by puffs of pink smoke. But from the video, we discover that Li differentiates himself from Ai Weiwei by maintaining that his work does not directly address Chinese politics or the government. It shouldn't be that surprising that someone who makes art by flying into the air is a bit detached from reality.

What do you think? Is this art or just a stunt?
