Keith Olbermann Fired: Brian Stelter Scoops Keach Hagey

On Friday, Current TV announced that it had fired Keith Olbermann. Who broke the story? Politico's Keach Hagey tweeted that she had a scoop, without stating what it was. Then, The New York Times's Brian Stelter retweeted Hagey -- and then actually broke the story.

Here's how it played out:

First, Hagey tweeted one of Stelter's signature lines:

Then Hagey's colleague at Politico, Dylan Byers, retweeted it and added:

But before Hagey could break the story, Stelter went ahead and tweeted the news:

Olbermann will be replaced by "Viewpoint with Eliot Spitzer," according to Current TV.

And nearly 10 minutes later, Hagey tweeted her story out:
