Google April Fools' Day 2012: The 7 Greatest Gags This Year (VIDEOS)

Google has had some April Fool's Day classics over the years.

Who can forget the 2007 TiSP, "a self-installed, ad-supported online service that will be offered entirely free to any consumer with a WiFi-capable PC and a toilet connected to a local municipal sewage system." And what about Gmail Paper, a service that Google said would allow Gmail users to request paper copies (via postal service, of course) of their emails?

But for 2012, the web giant may have outdone itself, announcing gag products related to its ultra high-speed fiber network, self-driving car, Mapping application, YouTube and more. By our count, Google's responsible for more than a dozen April Fool's Day pranks this year, many accompanied by videos explaining the "new" products and services. (Our two favorites: the Morse Code typing app Gmail Tap and the 8-bit Google Maps quest.)

Check out the slideshow below to see what Google gave us for April Fool's Day 2012, and let us know in the comments below which one you think is the year's best:

#6 "simply blow in the cartridge to remove bugs" Comedy gold right there for anyone who was a master of blowing into those things without getting any spit into the thing.

They are all great cause they are so polished.
I can see some sort of Gmail Tap app hit the cyber shelves one day - retro fans will embrace this novelty, especially if it comes with old fashioned sound effects.

Gmail Tap...

An obvious concession to all the old Amateur Radio Operators who are still brass pounders... both of them.

How about the April Fool article TechCrunch posted this morning about a Foxconn plant going to Iowa that has hundreds of poor souls sharing online, thinking 300,000 manufacturing jobs are coming to US?
