Funeral Shooting At Morvin Andre Service May Have Been Gang-Related: Cops

Cops: Funeral Home Drive-By May Be Gang-Related

The mass shooting at a North Miami funeral home this weekend that left 12 injured and 2 dead may be gang-related, Miami-Dade police confirm.

Police also confirm that the Friday night shooting occurred after the viewing for 21-year-old Morvin Andre, who died after jumping from the 4th floor of the Aventura Mall garage while fleeing loss prevention employees.

Gunshots rang out outside Funeraria Latina Emanuel on 149 Street and West Dixie Highway, according to police, hitting 14 people, including a 5-year-old girl who was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. She is currently in stable condition.

Omis Laurore, 43, Ft. Pierce, died at the scene and Dubreus Paterson, 27, Miami, died after being transported to the hospital, according to police.

The shooting may have been prompted by a dispute between gang members after someone touched Andre's body, upsetting a second party, according to CBS Miami.

Police are looking for a mid-sized white vehicle seen leaving the scene, which they believe may be a Dodge Charger.
