Brian Mooney got plenty of quizzical looks when he told people about his plans to start a construction company.

Beginning in a slow real estate market -- not with a focus on Detroit -- Mooney admits it was a risk.

But with fewer than six months in business, his Integrity Building Group has built a pipeline of $7 million in projects, including the much-talked-about redevelopment of the former Grand Army of the Republic Building in Detroit.
