"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" will hit the road this fall to cover the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. It will be the fourth DNC that the show has attended, having covered all since the year 2000.
Stewart and Executive Producer Rory Albanese will bring a staff of over 100 people to ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center to tape a week of shows to air nightly from Tuesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 7 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT. Tickets sold out before noon today.
"We are incredibly excited to spend a week in the beautiful city of Charlotte," said Albanese in a press release. "And to the good people of North Carolina, for their southern hospitality in hosting 125 smart-aleck New Yorkers, we offer in advance our thanks, but most of all, our apologies. Honestly, we didn’t mean to break that, and we promise we’ll pay for it."
Hopefully Albanese isn't too serious about breaking things, as the show is renting the ImaginOn facility for close to $100,000 for a week and a half.
This year's convention coverage will feature Jon Stewart's familiar desk segments as well as reports from the convention floor at the Time Warner Cable Arena from "The Best F#@king News Team Ever" including Samantha Bee, Wyatt Cenac, Jason Jones, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvi, John Oliver and Jessica Williams.
