Why does everybody here want us OUT of Afganistan, a very corrupt government from Karzai on down, costing us 10 billion a month. We just paid 50k a person to the families of those killed by a GI,who should have never been sent back to the front line. ($400 a year is the average income of an Afgan. and Yet are arrongant President says will be out in two years. like that
will make a difference in the country. just more americans killed and more taxpayer money spent.

Right on! Map the country and note any Al Quada activity and bomb them. No troops on the ground.

Any American life or American dollar that is spent overseas -- no matter what the articulated purpose -- does not acheive anything for America but derision or death. The American people are prostituted so unpopular foreign governments can maintain themselves in power and flush with graft while the average American loses daily for lack of education, real economic activity, energy policy, national policy, self-respect and the benefit of the American commonweal. Let's come home. Let's close the bases, turn off the dollars and rebuild america.

Sooner we are out the better. I'll give it six months or less before the Taliban is back in control.

The taliban already told the afgans, we are here to stay. the americans will be gone, and we will remember those that gave them aid. Karzai will take his millions and head out for a better life .and America will be another joke!

We have long since hit the wall of diminishing returns in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Time to pull our troops out and concentrate on some effective defense strategies. We are entering a dangerous time that requires we use our resources to their most effective level. Funneling money and men into Afghanistan and Pakistan is proving to be counter-productive.

So sorry that you are disappointed that you were unable to read about 'evil cooks and poisoned soup'.

For so many of us, we read these articles to see if an American soldier was killed, and was it our son or daughter.

Bet if you had an interest in this war, the last thing you would be looking for is a 'soup' update.

the article doesn't say anything about a poisoning or 6 people being killed. VERY misleading headline. (....and why would you depend on a huffington post news article to tell you you'd lost a son or daughter?)

I thought America did make themselves loved in Afghanistan as they have made the country secure and democratic, and that's why they now can leave it with pride and honour.

Okay, umm, who really cares about news from inside Iran anyway? They're a militaristic, islamic society that represses everyone within it's borders. Who even really knows if it's nuclear intents are to produce a bomb or provide power generation for it's people. Hard to believe the latter though, why would they care whether their people had power or not, they don't care about them in any other fashion. Point of the matter is, if they produce a bomb and try to fire it the missile will be intercepted and destroyed. And they also know there will be a counterstrike.

When we eventually leave Afghanistan, for good measure let's spray the poppy fields with some type of Agent Orange chemical. They are the leading poppy growers of the world and nothing seems to ever stop that fact. Just wish we could bring all of our brave men and women serving there back home. The Afghans don't want us there and they just remind me of stone aged type people that like their bleak lives.

Yes, it seems that we failed on the target of reducing the poppy crop but we did manage to hold it to only trebling and we also managed to improve women's rights didn't we?, No. Oh well at least we got the oil & gas pipeline that we were really there for didn't we? No. You mean we lost another another war? No, YOU lost another war.

Don't any of you people ever think about how you are being conned by your government?
07:55 AM on 04/04/2012
Who is buying from the poppy growers? If America is doing it legally, why not stop it? Is this agent used for some of our medicine here ins the USA? I heard that soldiers are destroying the fields because the Talibans are using them for sorce of income to fund their wars. What's the real deal on all of this?

Disputed heresy coming out of Afghanistan is probably worthy of a headline on Huff Post.

(Geez, it's hard to sound sarcastic online...)
