To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the Florida branch of the American Institute of Architects is hosting a vote to pick the best in Sunshine State architecture. With 100 buildings to rank from around the state, the list ranges from the iconic Cinderella Castle at Disney to the over-the-top Ca' d'Zan mansion in Sarasota -- 56 rooms, really? -- to St. Pete's strange Dali Museum to Miami's quirky Vagabond Motel.
Until April 6 at midnight, the AIA wants the public to vote on their favorite among the 100 spectacular buildings. The winner will be announced later in April, which also happens to be Florida Architecture Month. A point of pride for 305'ers: Miami-Dade made a huge mark in the state's design stardom, with 21 structures from the Magic City to Coral Gables to Miami Beach making the list.
Here are just a few of the buildings that made the list; to see all the candidates and enter your vote, visit AIAFlaTop100.com by midnight on April 6.
