Baby In Purse Of Mother Driving In U.S. Virgin Islands, Police Say

A woman had a baby in her purse when pulled over for a routine traffic stop.

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands -- U.S. Virgin Islands police say a woman was allegedly driving with her newborn baby zipped up in her purse.

A police statement says an officer pulled over a woman driving a pickup during a routine traffic stop Tuesday. While asking for the St. Croix woman's license, the officer reported hearing a baby crying but did not see a baby seat in the vehicle.

The motorist then allegedly unzipped a purse sitting on the seat next to her and revealed a tiny newborn.

Police say the woman told them that the baby girl was born at home a week ago and had no prenatal care. She was apparently driving the infant to a doctor.

Authorities rushed the newborn to a hospital. The mother may face criminal charges. Her name and age were not disclosed.

This is Why "BIRTH CONTROL" MUST be Obligated to Every Human Being.../// The Privilege to give Birth, Should be ONLY for people who can/know/fallow/understand/mature/posses the maximum tools to have Babies...
Being a Parent should be like (a Career) if you wanna be a Doctor/Engineer/IT,,etc...
Only allow for people who are mature and have had study many years before giving birth.
Give Birth is NOT a Right.; It's NOT for Everyone and it's NOT for Everybody.
It is a Privilege with lots of Responsibility.
So please, say Yes to Birth Control all over the world!!!

That has to be the dumbest thing I have ever read on this site. She needs to be held over for a mental evaluation and not get the kid back either. Where would she have put the kid if she was in a real rush.....the glove box?

What is wrong with people? I can't imagine doing that to a baby under any circumstances. ... I also can't imagine fitting any normal sized newborn into even the biggest purse I own. It just isn't physically possible.

Well, that was one way to keep the baby from rolling off the seat while she was driving. The mother doesn't sound as if she's all that bright. Hopefully God will watch out for that child . . .

I hope they do a full medical exam and dna testing to see if this really is the mother, and if any pregnant women have came up missing over the last few days I have a feeling this may have a horrible ending.

That's a good observation, I don't buy the story of taking the baby to adoctor, either she stole that baby or she was on her way to sell it or dispose it.

Now are we really this stupid. Just to get the newborn to the hospital for prenatal care, I could understand "MAYBE" having the newborn in your lap as you drive, or even if your IQ is high enough, borrow a car seat from someone. But, a purse????? How much crack/heroin/meth did you snort before you thought of that one?
