My aunt in Mississippi just bought a tornado shelter, with all those storms down there now, she wanted to be prepared. She says she loves it and feels so much safer now. She said it was more comfy than she’d expected, too. It even has carpeting lol! She found them on this site www.survive-a-storm.com ... pretty neat :)

The video was frightening to see. I lived through a couple of tornadoes that did serious damage growing up, but that was downright surreal. My heart goes out to all that were affected by the tornadoes, and you can bet I was on the phone to my Fort Worth friends the second after it hit the news to make sure they were OK.

It seems most of these weather disasters are happening in "RED" states..where there is NO Global Warming. Or IF there is, then man certainly has NOTHING to do with it!

hmmm...I don't care if it's a truck or a trailer being tossed about, I'm ducking for cover either way. And I'm certainly not climbing on my roof to get a good shot, like that one guy did. The media said "he got blown off his own roof" or something like that. I thought, "Really? You think?" Then he had the gumption to go on national TV and tell everyone what he was thinking....or in this case, what he was NOT thinking. They stupidly asked him if he was scared. Is this all it takes to be a TV journalist these days? Of course he was scared and at least he said yes. Gee, I should think about a career change. Glad the storms are over, for now.

I don't care what anyone says: when 10,000 lb. loaded trailers begin going walkabout--the weather has CHANGED--and we need to begin looking at the bigger picture.

Stuff like this reminds me that humans cannot conquer nature. We can only prepare for it.

They say everything is bigger in Texas....I guess that also goes for tornadic destruction. Awesome images though.

Thankfully, no one was killed.

rssbll55 yes god do that. cause we are not of chemicals bio or otrherwise.. we are not of the body or earth.. you could drop a nuke on your spirit and the spirit would not be touched. to say this is not god is to say that mas exsists by mistake.. its ok to pray for acceptance.. all the time.. we can bring it forth thru collective concious.. and yes i have lost family members i even held my moms hand as she passed.. we are more then the earth and our body..its destruction does not matter...thats the point...

It is refreshing to hear someone acknowledge the existence of God! Even if I had not been filled with the Holy Spirit I would still profess God's existence! The body is just a vessel in which our spirit resides! I faced death with a man standing over me with a knife and a peace washed over me that I can't explain other than like you said the spirit can not be touched!

You are allowed to say: "I'm praying for the victims..." but, it's an unreasonable request and prohibition to suggest those that disagree; should just keep their opinions to themselves. If you're unable to deal with the anxiety or evocativeness in your comment, perhaps you should keep your opinions and imploration private and or perhaps even leave God out of a secular debate.

So, I'm watching a video of one of yesterday's Dallas tornadoes and wondering: these people are stopping in the middle of the road? I see some pulling over to the shoulder. How close does it need to get before you get out of the car and get into a ditch, like we were taught in grade school?

I saw one report claiming the trailer was 80 feet long, the longest trailer on the road is 53 feet.Weights have been reported from 10,000 to 80,000 lbs. The average empty trailer is 13,600 while a max loaded trailer is usually 45,000 plus trailer weight. Typical report first check facts later journalism

This happens all the time during tornadoes. It's just isn't caught on video that often. I wonder what Pat Robertson will blame these on?

These tornadoes were possessed by demons.
02:23 PM on 04/04/2012
I know I will be crucified for this, but these tornadoes aren't really any spectacle. Yes, horrible, and unfortunate. But, none the less, chump runts of the litter we see in Tornado Alley. These isn't a "Who's Bigger" contest, I understand, but the only thing surprising to me about this is the accumulative of them in this area, at this time of the year. Other than that, a tornado that picks up a trailer, but not the tractor is nothing to be feared too much. It would basically have the equality to rip the siding off a house here, assuming the structural perplexity of it was sound.

None the less, like I said, this time of year, this many, in that area, should really make us look at what we're doing to our environment, especially with the consistent climate changes. South Dakota is often warmer than California right now, when it's usually covered in snow.

53' trailers weigh between 13000 and 15000 lbs empty depending on the manufacturer. Based on the way the trailer flew, they were most likely empty as the cargo would have been tore out of the aluminum siding.

Historically Texas holds the record for the most intense tornado with winds over 375 mph. It makes me wonder why Texas consistently has these powerful twisters ?
