Eliot Spitzer Debuts To Low Ratings Following Keith Olbermann Exit

Eliot Spitzer Bombs On His First Day As Olbermann's Replacement

The ratings for Eliot Spitzer's debut on Current after Keith Olbermann's explosive exit are in, and they do not look good.

Spitzer drew 47,000 total viewers with 10,000 in the key 25-54 demographic. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the numbers for the Friday premiere were down 74% compared to Olbermann's average viewership at 8 p.m. during March.

News of Olbermann's firing broke late Friday afternoon. The former host and Current TV are preparing for war, with Olbermann promising to take legal action and network sources alleging that he had been "in breach of contract" and "sabotaged" the channel.

Spitzer's show "Viewpoint" launched suddenly, just hours after Olbermann's firing was made public. The former governor of New York and CNN host had reportedly been in talks with Current for months.
