Naya Rivera Covers 'Latina': Is This 'Glee' Star The Next Jennifer Lopez?

Posted: Updated:

On Glee, she plays Santana Lopez, the sassy and smart-mouthed high-school bad girl who recently rocked out with Ricky Martin to Madonna's "La Isla Bonita." And although in real life actress Naya Rivera doesn't spout constants insults like Santana, Naya is every bit as fearless and show-stopping as her "Glee" counterpart. Now, the breakout TV star is making her magazine cover debut on the May 2012 issue of Latina magazine.

Naya told the magazine: "My fans had a petition to get me in this magazine for so long. I would get tweeted about it every day!"'

So what can Naya's fans expect to see from her next? A rumored "Glee" tribute episode devoted to One Direction, and on the side, a solo album. Naya is currently working with Columbia Records on her big musical debut. "Glee" creator and producer Ryan Murphy is optimistic about her success in the music industry, and has even compared Naya to legendary Latina singer Jennifer Lopez. Murphy gushed to Latina, "I'm friends with Jennifer, and they're both beautiful, fun, talented and ambitious."

Like Lopez, Naya came from humble beginnings and had to work hard from a young age, which allowed her to cultivate a strong work ethic and stay grounded despite her mounting fame.

"I think it’s important to be able to say that you did live a normal life and struggled to make ends meet," she said. "It all has to do with work ethic and how I apply myself to my awesome job now. I've always been used to working because I've been working since I was four."

Another feature Naya shares with J-Lo is her status as a budding fashion icon. With her ultra-glam but always-classic style, Naya's red carpet looks always turn heads.

In honor of her magazine cover debut, we've put together our favorite photos of Naya on the red carpet.
