Nick Cannon Debuts 'Health Hustle' Video Series Documenting Recovery From Kidney Failure (VIDEO)

It's been three months since Nick Cannon was hospitalized for "mild kidney failure," a condition that he later revealed to be the result of an autoimmune disease similar to lupus.

Now Cannon is chronicling daily life in the wake of his diagnosis in a new web documentary series called "NCredible Health Hustle."

Cannon premiered the series on his website Monday, along with a note highlighting its goal -- to show that "it is possible to put the reins on [kidney disease and lupus] a bit and gain control of your health and wellness," he wrote.

The first episode features footage of Cannon's wife, Mariah Carey, holding one of the couple's 11-month old twins, and narration from Cannon, explaining how he went from spending time with his family, "in the snow, playing, having a good time," to swelling up, experiencing shortness of breath and excruciating pain in his right side. Cannon then demonstrates how he woke up in the hospital where doctors gave him the life-altering diagnosis.

Later in the video, Cannon is seen connected to an IV and discussing symptoms of edema with his doctor, a type of swelling caused by fluid in your body's tissues. Edema typically occurs in the feet, ankles and legs of people with kidney disease.

In addition to changes in diet -- which may include limiting fluids and protein, and restricting salt, potassium, phosphorous, and other electrolytes, according to the National Institutes of Health -- reps for the series say it plans to capture everything from the moment Cannon had to make the decision to step away from his daily New York radio show to working with world renowned health experts to traveling the country hosting "America's Got Talent" and making time for his family in between.

"Nothing in his life has been off limits to the cameras," a rep said in an email to The Huffington Post.

LUPUS SUCKS...... My daughter, Symone fought a good fight for 7 years. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Nick take care of yourself and "LIVE LIFE" ....I remember telling my baby on her bad days .... "Symone keep fighting, and she would say " Ma, I am" when she got too sick to fight anymore she said "Ma, Lupus winning" She was19 when she passed away.

Its a good thing Nick has the money to go to the best doctors. I wish we all had that opportunity. I love Nick so I'm not insulting him. I think he is a good man. When a celeb gets sick they get the best care and we get bare minimum. Healthcare has to be the same for all.

Best wishes during your journey and recovery from this bad spell. Please, please, please use this time to bring awareness to "auto-immune diseases," and Lupus, etc. I have Lupus and find that it is not well known or understood in the general public, right along with other auto-immune illnesses. With your fan base you can educate a LOT of people about the struggles of dealing with such a disease and bring more support to the research and donation side. Be a walking billboard and a survivor for all of our smaller voices. Help us be heard! Health and happiness to you all.

Hey Nick, I was so shocked when I heard of your health problems, I to have an auto immune disease, mine is called dermatomyositis and from what I gather its from my immune system being too strong. Anyways I recently came across an amazing documentary from some top physicians and they are within your reach so I wanted to tell you about it, the documentary is called forks over knives, im not sure if you've heard of it but you owe it to yourself to check it out, it sounds amazing and I believe it can give us both our lives back someday......You have a beautiful family, GOD bless you and I pray you overcome this illness :)

Both you and Nick and anyone with a auto immune disease should google Low Dose Naltrexone. It is a drug. Goggle it and do some research. It is amazing stuff. Just google the name, you will have to get a script from a Dr.
