Regis Philbin Says He Inspired This Famous Director On 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' (VIDEO)

Regis Philbin Inspired Which Famous Director To Make It Big?

Regis Philbin added a little more time to his world record number of hours and minutes in front of a camera with his latest guest spot on "Late Night" (Weeknights, 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC). Jimmy Fallon always loves having The Reege on and not just because he's such an entertaining interview subject. It allows Fallon to bring out his own classic Philbin impression, and try to out-Reege the original.

He kicked off this interview by serenading Regis -- as Regis -- with a song filled with innuendo. But then, Philbin got serious, relating a story about just how important he's been to entertainment. Everyone knows his significance in television, but he has a strong film influence as well.

Philbin said he met a young man on the set of "The Joey Bishop Show," and that their meeting inspired the young man to pursue his own Hollywood dreams. Steven Spielberg told him so himself when they two of them met again years later.

Watch Jimmy Fallon on "Late Night" every weeknight at 12:37 a.m. ET on NBC.
