Serengeti, Chicago Rapper, Tells Cubs Fans 'Don't Blame Steve' Bartman (VIDEO)

Chicago Rapper: 'Don't Blame Steve' Bartman

Chicago-based rapper Serengeti on Monday premiered his newest music video, which urged Chicago Cubs fans not "blame Steve" Bartman for their World Series woes.

In the video, Serengeti, a.k.a. David Cohn, as his mustache-wearing, sausage-eating alter ego Kenny Davis, offers up his defense of Bartman, delivered the same week as the Cubs' opening day for their 2012 season.

Bartman in 2003 attracted the ire of Cubs fans when, in the eighth inning of game six of the National League Championship Series, Bartman, a fan in the stands, reached for a foul ball off Florida Marlins' Luis Castillo and disrupted what could have been a catch by the Cubs' Moisés Alou. The Cubs ultimately blew a 3-0 lead in that inning by surrendering eight runs to the Marlins. Bartman went into hiding.

"Don't Blame Steve" is off the South Side-born Serengeti's new Kenny Dennis EP, released Tuesday by Anticon, and does not mark the rapper's first foray into Chicago lore. In 2010, his "Percuators" video was dripping with Windy City references.

Cohn's new EP, it is worth noting, also features a memorable, spirited cover of "Top That" from the 1989 film "Teen Witch."
