Octomom, Nadya Suleman, Says She's Back On Food Stamps

LOS ANGELES -- "Octomom" Nadya Suleman says financial troubles as she tries to raise 14 children have put her back on food stamps.

Suleman said Thursday that she's been forced to break her vow to refuse public assistance and has received $2,000 in food stamps for each of the last two months. She was interviewed by Matt Lauer on NBC's "Today" show.

Suleman says she's working as hard as she can to support the children and has business ventures in the works.

Her lawyer said last week that she had posed semi-nude for a British magazine to raise money.

Suleman told Lauer she would never let her family be broken up because she couldn't care for the children.

In January, 2009, Suleman gave birth to eight babies who became the world's longest-living octuplets.

The kids are lucky that mom is doing whatever it takes to feed and care for them. Lots of folks would have walked away. In some ways maybe she should have. She still might have to unless she can make a fortune cranking out litters like the Duggars with a sexual productivity TV show. All in all, it's not the kids' fault. It's wrong to punish infants for the idiocy of the parents. C'est complique.

A good sized barn or horse stable would make for a good house for 14. Suleman is brave to do the best she can, but it's sad that her uterine easter egg hunt didn't consider the kids first.

If you go on food stamps and you have that many kids the government should tie the tubes. Sure it your right to have children but it's not right to have everyone pay for them.

Yeah. But she didn't really think about getting a job. She was going for the 'famous mother of the year' fame and glory; complete with semi-nude photos, interviews, and (so she thought) sponsors.

This is one of the stupidest things I ever hear of a doctor actually allowing her and helping her get pregnant knowing she already had 6 children and no husband and no real way to support anymore children. This should never happen and there needs to be laws and rules in place to make sure it can never happen under these conditions. The doctor should be made to help pay for this and the childrens wellfare. As it is the tax payers will be paying for these children and that isn't fair they are paying for this woman's madest and the doctors willingness to do it for a few bucks in his pocket.

I respectfully disagree. You see our country, contrary to most, has a very "skewed" interpretation of what's considered poor. Poor in the US, means you can go on welfare, food stamps, unemployment, disability, etc, while texting on your smart phone, watching cable TV, in you air conditioned home, with you SUV in the driveway. And sometimes you get all these benefits not even being a legal taxpayer citizen in this country. You can knock out a couple of kids, they get free schooling, and just walk into an emergency room at any hospital across the nation free off the taxpayer's back. So in actuality.. we're pretty much at the top of the list when it comes to the nation who gives the most.

Just a P.S. I would rather see food stamps be given to someone who was actually born in this country or someone here legally than a criminal and his/her dependents who broke the law to get here. Or gave birth to an anchor baby in order to stay here.

What is to be gained by all the negative and hateful remarks. The woman screwed up. She is screwed up. I would image she, herself, is really sorry she had all those kids. But, there's no do-overs on her mess. No amount of hate toward her is going to change her situation. Let just one of you haters stand up and offer some help. No takers? Well then just be quiet. No doubt the poor thing curses her situation daily. If you want her to be punished, well just look at her life. She struggles to do anything and everything to support her family. How about you hate on a few illegals in the U.S. sucking up our resources and leave this poor creature alone. She's paying the price for her stupidity people and so are her kids. Offer up help not hate.
