Tim Tebow To Deliver Easter Speech At Celebration Texas Church

Tebow Easter

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- A central Texas church spokeswoman says New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is set to speak to an expected 20,000 people on Easter Sunday.

Tebow is scheduled to address the Celebration Church in Georgetown, north of Austin. Church spokeswoman Tara (TAH'-ra) Wall tells The Associated Press that Tebow reached out to the church about a month ago and said he wanted to speak.

People attending the non-denominational service will sit on lawn chairs and blankets. Wall said Friday about 1,100 volunteers are involved in running the event on the church's 110-acre grounds.

Tebow was traded last month from Denver to the Jets. He's well known for his strong Christian beliefs and often addresses religious congregations.

Wall says Sunday's service will be like "an outside concert event."

I think Tebow loves his neighbor more than himself.

People say -- "He gets on my nerves."

He doesn't get on my nerves.

Probably doesn't get on the cancer patient's nerves that he buys 40 yard tickets for when he plays.

Probably doesn't get on the terminally ill children's nerves who he takes around the Bronco locker room making him feel like a celebrity.

Please should read about what he does for sick/needy/depressed people every game, every city, win or lose before passing judgment.

The league and USA would be so lucky to have more players like him.

While I admire Tim Tebow for his faith, I also concur with Pastor Kavar as many Evangelical Christians forget that Jesus taught us 'to love your neighbor as you love yourself" and "to love others as I have loved you." Whether a person agrees with someone's faith or not, if we don't love someone because of what makes them different than ourselves, we are forgetting these 2 valuable teachings meant to lead us to Peace. What we have left is harsh, judgemental and often distructive.

It's hilarious to witness the things that some people choose to fear!

Stay in Texas, Tebow..... you're not wanted in New York! I hope the first time you kneel on the grass at the Meadowlands.... they pelt you with empty beer bottles!

And shame on you for using the name of an eminent philosopher as your monicker. Bertrand Russell would have provided a considered, genuine argument as opposed to your drivel.

Tim will address the below

Lev. 11:6-8 “6 The rabbit, though it chews the cud, does not have a split hoof; it is unclean for you. 7 And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. 8 You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.”

You're repeating yourself. No need to bother Tim as I've already answered you below.

When will someone explain that 3 days meant 3 days and nights, sunset to sunset, and Easter sunday should really be easter Monday
06:53 PM on 04/08/2012
I think the narrative goes something like:
"... and on the third day he arose from the dead..."
Friday is day one, Saturday is day two, and Sunday -- well, it's all metaphorical anyway.
You're welcome.

Will he mention that the bible says not to touch pig skin and keep the sabbath holy (not playing football on sunday)
10:25 AM on 04/08/2012
Pig skin is not out of bounds for Christians and the operative word you used is "playing". Traditionally, many sports use to be just for exercise, fun and recreation. Now you get paid for playing many sports. I. should be so lucky

Tebow is a whole passel of things, but he is certainly not a follower of Jesus; as he prays the way the Pharisees do.
10:22 AM on 04/08/2012
You're back with that same one liner???
As mentioned previously, Jesus was condemning the pharisees of his time who elbowed their way to the front of synagogues praying loudly and dropping large donations in public view to draw attention to themselves and their good works.
Tim Tebow is not violating any civil or church law by quietly praying on the field. The TV cameras DO NOT have to focus on him either in close-up or in the distance for his moments of reflection. They certainly wouldn't do so if they considered it in bad taste. However, the TV station chooses to do so because it generates publicity for the channel as they are entitled to do so.
