Dirty Projectors' 'Gun Has No Trigger' (AUDIO)

The Dirty Projectors Take Us Back To The Early 2000s

Dirty Projectors have been around since 2002, but only rose to more mainstream ground with 2009's "Stillness Is the Move," a song so popular it was recently covered by Solange Knowles (hey, it's all in the family). As a result, you may only associate the words 'dirty' and 'projectors,' together, with vocalist Amber Coffman's tribal wail on "Stillness." But on their first single off their new LP, "Gun Has No Trigger," the bands' head songwriter and vocalist David Longstreth reminds us that there's more to them than the Tune-Yards-like vocals. "Trigger" is perhaps a less trendy single, but it touches the right heartstrings -- the ones that make us want to pull out our old Coral albums and sink into early 2000 Brit pop.
