Hillary Clinton Thanks 'Texts From Hillary' Guys For The 'LOLZ'

Posted: 04/10/2012 3:20 pm Updated: 04/10/2012 10:56 pm

WASHINGTON -- On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton took a few minutes away from her texting (and all her other duties as secretary of state) and met with the two guys who have turned her into the latest Internet meme.

In less than a week, the blog "Texts from Hillary" has become an online sensation, boosting Clinton's public image in the process. As Benjy Sarlin of TPM wrote, "When she was running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Hillary Clinton was parodied as drab and calculated, especially compared with young and vigorous Barack Obama and winking and fresh-faced Sarah Palin. Now, she’s fueling Internet jokes based on her own brand of badass cool."

Stacy Lambe and Adam Smith, the two guys behind the site, said they received an email from a member of Clinton's staff on Monday afternoon, out of the blue.

"We didn't even believe it at first," said Smith. "Stacy and I IMed each other at the same time, basically saying, 'Oh my god, this email!'"

The staffer invited them over to the State Department, saying the secretary loved the site and wanted to meet them. Her staff also submitted Clinton's own idea for a post to the site, which went up on Tuesday. In it, Clinton calls out Smith and Lambe for their creation (and makes a scrunchie joke).

Smith said that the submission was from Clinton herself -- although she may have had some help on it -- and that they talked about it with her at the meeting. She told them that her favorite post was the one with Ryan Gosling.

"Her staff is a delight," said Lambe. "Everybody was really nice and really excited about what's happened over the past few days. Of course, Hillary Clinton thought it was hilarious and had a good laugh and was very nice and welcome -- and very generous to take a few minutes of her time to take some photos with us."

In fact, Clinton suggested that the three of them pose in the photos with their blackberries, checking their text messages. She even whipped out her famous sunglasses.

"I would just say that her meeting with us proves the point that we were trying to make with the site," said Smith.

Clinton also gave each of them signed copies of her "Texts from Hillary" submission.

Smith's signed copy, on which Clinton signed her name "Hillz":

I voted for Hillary Clinton in my state's primary (New Jersey) when everyone around me was spouting Obama. I knew in my heart of hearts that only Hillary had the guts and stamina to take on the Republican neo cons and kick their asses.

Obama tried to make the peace with the Republucan'ts but they used that as a weakness against him. What he should of done-and I have no doubt Hillary would have done- is call them out- rail against them day and night as the party of greed and obstructionism.
Do a Harry Truman on them. Fire up the people.

I say Hillary in 2016.

Her world. Her life. Finally, the media is letting her live her life? Not really, she is just on her own terms.

Although I wish for the same, I don't think she has to 'ditch' him, they can trade places, Joe Biden is an invaluable treasure to any team.

Dear Madam Secretary, Working with leaders across the oceans and language barriers is an awesome task. It's good to see you enjoying life as an average person would and not taking yourself too seriously all the time. But please get back to working on Syria, North Korea and Iran. Thank You, Your Fan

Michelle Obama chose to be the Administrator of the Chicago Hospital for $250,000 annual salary; over been a full time mother. Now a day she is a full time mother and Obama calls her the Angry Black Woman; so she keeps planning luxurious vacation on private islands and Aspen Colorado, paid by the People.
Ann Romney chose to be a full time mother: priceless.
5 million Stay-at-Home Moms

Number of stay-at-home moms in 2010 — down from 5.1 million in 2009 and 5.3 million in 2008 (the estimates for 2010 and 2009 are not statistically different). In 2010, 23 percent of married-couple family groups with children under 15 had a stay-at-home mother, up from 21 percent in 2000. In 2007, before the recession, stay-at-home mothers were found in 24 percent of married-couple family groups with children under 15.

Really? A stay at home mom is a measure of the value of a person or a mother? Wake up, wake up, wake up. This is 2012. This is not Little House on the Prairie. A woman who has the brains, skills, and determination, a woman who can make a difference in the world should subvert her education and skills and be a stay at home mom? A working mom is a "bad" thing. Good grief. Ann Romney is certainly not my role model, or a role model I would choose for my kids, but I don't criticize her choice. It was her choice. Jump into this century, chiguitina.

Rumor in Arkansas has it that Hillz is funding a new business venture. Bill and Bobby are opening up a combo motorcycle/cigar parlor in Little Rock. Looks to be a nice place to visit.

I was pretty p/o'd at the Republicans for 8 years of Bush, and their constant frat-boy parties, and looting the treasury and bankrupting us, lying us into war, their braggadocio and swagger, and the way they inserted themselves everywhere and cr@pped in the corners of every room they were in.

Between Hillary and Obama, I felt Obama would give more of them heart attacks...
I had no idea what a capitulator he was. I want him to be a better man than he is.

I WISH I'd supported Hillary because she would never pander for Republican Love, like the President does. Hillary, more than anyone I think, knows EXACTLY what they are capable of, because they beat her up pretty badly, back in the day.

Hope she runs for President. I know she's not perfect, but she has strength, which is more that Mr. Obama has. I wish I'd seen that back in 2008. And electing a woman WOULD have given a few Republicans heart attacks, which is icing on the cake.

VioletDatura: Obama did not capitulate. He tried to compromise with the Repubs over and over and over and over again. That's not pandering; that's how it's supposed to work but the party of "NO" repeatedly stifled any progress that could have been made for jobs, the economy and humanity. The right is not interested in the good of the country; they obsess over the removal of Obama because he is black and a Democrat. Republicans only care about their party, money and power.

If she hadn't bought into the invasion of Iraq, this woman would be our President. I'm sure she knew better but made a purely political calculation. As it turned out, that vote made all the difference.

I agree. It was one of the things I held against her.. also her uncritical support for Israel.

Hillary would have made a MUCH better leader than Obama.......She would NOT have been so easily obstructed. Bill knew how to work congress.Hillary is no Obama. She would have been actually been able to LEAD and had more respect around the world. I believe she would have had more of the people behind her and with Bill's experience and guidance, her administration would have been a lot better than this quagmire of inexperience and weakness.
