Alt-J's 'Breezeblocks' Shows A Murder In Reverse (VIDEO)

Passion, love, deception and murder are usually a fantastic combination for a dramatic thriller. Throw some reverse-video action into the mix and it's downright enthralling.

Self-identified folk-step group alt-J (press those keys on a Macbook and you'll get this, āˆ†) released a music video for their song "Breezeblocks" off their upcoming album An Awesome Wave last week. The song is a bass-heavy jam with eerily playful xylophone-like tinkering throughout.

The video follows the song perfectly. The scene is set with a woman dead in a bathtub -- a cinderblock on her chest and the water stained red with blood. Her body is ripped out of the tub, completely dry, and a vicious fight begins, or ends, while playing in reverse.

There's a twist close to the end (er, beginning) that makes the situation unnerving (even more so than it is already) and a little confusing, but it doesn't detract from the hypnotizing effect of a murder played in reverse.

Watch below for alt-J's "Breezeblocks:"

It's cool -- but I'm stupid. Who's the girl (woman?) in the corner? Their daughter? She doesn't look young enough to be.

the woman in the corner is the mans wife (hint the subtle flashing of wedding rings and no ring on the girl at the end of the video), the girl is assumed to be the lover he had been seeing but whom recently learned he was married and didn't take to kindly to it. That is what also ultimately makes the video so sad, is that either way the male protagonist loses in the scenario. A loss of both of the ones he loved.

I find the last part of your comment almost as disturbing as the video itself. Regardless of the relationship of the two women to the male (I happen to disagree with your analysis, but that's besides the point), the "loss" of the male "protagonist" is hardly what makes the video tragic. What makes the video tragic is its vivid and catastrophic portrayal of the resounding effects one abusive relationship can have. Both the video and the lyrics reveal the male to be an abusive, obsessive, and likely co-dependent psychopath who locks his wife up and murders the other woman. The tragedy for him is that he didn't get professional help before it was too late, not that he "loses" two women in his life because he abused them.

Due to the shot of the wedding rings, I agree with most of your analysis. Although it is more thrilling for some to think the man had both women as victims, it makes little sense for the woman to be free and armed before the fight unless she was an intruder.

The woman in the closet is his wife. What happens is he comes home, finds his wife tied up and a lady behind him with a knife who attacks him and they fight until he knocks her out with the cinderblock and puts it on top of her
