Ashley Madison: Chicago Cheating Spouses Earn City Top Ten Spot In Membership Survey

Chicago Home To Many Cheaters, Adultery Website Claims

According to a recent membership survey conducted by extramarital dating site Ashley Madison, significant others across the Second City have been taking on second partners at a particularly high rate.

The website, which matches spouses looking to cheat with new partners discreetly, celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, and to commemorate, surveyed their membership to find which ten U.S. cities had the most subscribers.

Chicago made the top 10, coming in at number eight behind San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Pittsburgh and more. Washington took the top spot, and Dallas and Orlando trailed Chicago in the bottom half.

Chicago's tally includes the site's customary post-Valentine's Day boost. On Feb. 13, or "Mistress Day," where cheaters indulge their secret partners in advance of spending the holiday with their spouses, Chicago's membership grew by 336, a 180 percent spike compared to an average day, according to the RedEye. Officials predicted a 300 percent membership increase on Feb. 15.

Chicago's high rank could also be a backhanded compliment: according to Ashley Madison CEO Noel Biderman, high-ranking cities are filled with powerful people.

"Simply put, the more successful you are, the more prone to cheating you are," he said in a release announcing the company's findings.
