Maybe we're biased, but we think it's pretty safe to say that San Francisco is the single greatest music town in the history of notes.
Think about important musical events that have happened places other than San Francisco: the Beatles perform on Ed Sullivan in New York City, some dudes in a Detroit suburb invent techno music, Parisians riot at the premiere of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and that's it.
Everything else happened in the Bay Area. Hippie music? Check. Punk rock's breakthrough into the popular consciousness? Check. Journey? Check. Hyphy? Hella check.
In honor of how much we love the music of the Bay Area (and also to show off this nifty new embeddable Spotify player), the team here at Huffington Post San Francisco has compiled a list of some of our favorite songs by Bay Area bands, from Moby Grape to Thee Oh Sees.
In an attempt to get some variety to the selection, we capped the number of Third Eye Blind songs at one. #FirstWorldProblems.
