Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum suspended his race for the nomination Tuesday, and gave a heartfelt speech to thank his supporters.
On Wednesday's "Daily Show," Jon Stewart noted that for a former senator and lobbyist, Santorum seemed oddly impressed with his ability to have gotten as far as he did, even going so far as calling it a "miracle." Is it really so off-base to assume that someone popular enough to get voted into a position as high up as Pennsylvania state senator would be able to work his way into a more national playing field?
What truly set Stewart off, though, was Santorum's claim that, "This race was as improbable as any race you will see for president."
Stewart seemed to think that the race back in 2008, you know, the one involving a black politician named Barack Hussein Obama, might have been a bit more memorable. Not to mention some of the other GOP candidates this year (Cain, Vermin Supreme).
