Kevin Love Concussion: Timberwolves Star Hospitalized After Head Injury (VIDEO)

Kevin Love Hospitalized After Concussion

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love sustained a mild a concussion when an errant elbow from Javale McGee of the Denver Nuggets cracked him in the face on Wednesday night. Love stepped in front of McGee as he turned into the lane late in the first quarter and paid the price. As the rangy McGee turned his body toward the basket, he swung his right elbow directly into Love's face. A referee whistled McGee for an offensive foul as Love crumpled to the floor. With Love lying dazed on the hardwood, T-Wolves point guard J.J. Barea began waving to the sideline for trainers to come out and check on his teammate.

"I knew it as soon as he hit, when I saw his eyes on the floor I knew he was out," T-Wolves point guard J.J. Barea told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "He was talking, but he wasn't all there. A mild concussion is still bad, but he'll be fine."

Love was helped off the floor and into the locker room. The team later tweeted an update on his status.

Having officially been diagnosed with a concussion, Love will not be cleared to play until he passes a battery of league-mandated tests. With just seven games remaining on the team's schedule, he may miss the remainder of the season.
