A San Francisco man who spent the night in the emergency room after allegedly being attacked by a drunk woman wielding Christian Louboutin high heels managed to track down his assailant via a social media campaign.
Matt Meidinger, the general manager at popular San Francisco restaurant Jasper's Corner Tap & Kitchen, alleged that the woman used her high heels to crack his skull outside of a restaurant when he tried to intervene in a fight.
According to Meidinger, the woman was changing from her high heels into flip-flops on the sidewalk when a pedestrian accidently kicked one of her shoes. Allegedly the woman began yelling at the pedestrian, and when he turned to apologize, the woman's male companion punched him in the face. According to Grub Street San Francisco, Meidinger then intervened:
"I spoke up and said, 'Whoa! Take it easy! Kicking a shoe doesn't equal a punch in the face, Louboutins or not!' As the guy turned around to tell me to mind my own business, the woman ran up and said, 'Yes it does!' and came down on top of my head with her heels."
Meideinger alleged that he then tried to call 911 but was attacked by the woman's friends who punched him in the face and threw his phone in the street. He was then hospitalized for his injuries, and tweeted that he suffered a cracked skull.
After the incident, Meidinger tweeted a picture of his assailant along with a description of what happened, and offered a $500 reward for her name. Friends, notable chefs, bartenders, industry workers and journalists circulated the story, and within days, the woman was allegedly found.
"I'm happy to have obtained information about the woman and have given the information to the authorities," said Meidinger to Grub Street.
The Huffington Post contacted San Francisco Police Sergeant Daryl Fong, but he was unable to confirm the woman's identity or that she had been aprehended.
"We typically don't reveal the identity of a suspect, especially when an investigation is underway," said Fong. "However I can tell you that our investigators are working closely with the victim to identify and apprehend the suspect."
According to Grub Street San Francisco, an anonymous informant (allegedly via the woman's sister) reported that the woman and her husband were the ones being assaulted, and that she was only trying to protect her husband.
"She and her friends were accosted first and she was trying to get the man to stop punching her husband in the face," she wrote.
Meanwhile, the case has sparked international attention, as well as a firestorm in the the local community.
