Brad Pitt Engaged To Angelina Jolie: Were You Holding Out Hope For Jennifer Aniston?

After years of speculation, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are officially engaged, the Associated Press confirmed Friday.

The upcoming nuptials won't be either star's first trip down the aisle. After a short-lived marriage to English actor Jonny Lee Miller -- the pair split in 1997 after seven months of marriage -- Jolie was married for three years to Billy Bob Thornton from 2000 to 2003. Pitt's previous marriage to Jennifer Aniston ended when she filed for divorce in 2005 after five years of marriage, much to fans' shock and disappointment.

It seems some were still holding out for Pitt and Aniston to get back together. Amid congratulatory tweets, some tweeters expressed their disdain for Brangelina's engagement:

It is well known that Jolie has borderline personality disorder. I think her dad was right when he was worried about her adopting due to her mental illness Pitt has aged about 14 years in the 7 hes been with that freak.

If Aniston did take him back she would have lost the respect of many confident secure women. He cheated on her. He was married to JENNIFER at the time. The way he did it was disrespectful to Anniston. Pictures of him & Jolie in the news for everyone to see. It was like a slap in the face.There is such a thing as discretion. He had none. She did the right thing to file for divorce. She will do BETTER than him. Pitt & Jolie deserve each other. Jolie was disgusting at the awards with that leg sticking out like a scrawny chicken.She was gross. Anniston has a BODY that doesnt quit. Jolie cant hold a candle to her.

So, none of you know any of them personally, yet call Jennifer selfish and immature, Brad a liar, and Angelina a woman who can't keep a man. Here is the facts: Jennifer is beautiful, Brad is not aging well and Angelina looks like a lollipop whose stick is about to break. I can't say more because I do not know them personally.

No, never would wish that on Jennifer. She's a class act and has moved on to find happiness after Brad cheated and lied. Angelina's already been divorced twice and had a reputation of hooking up with someone in every movie she made and Brad was one of them. Neither has had any big career sucess in years so only thing keeping them in the news is adopting kids. If they ever make it to get married I dont except it'll last long.

No, nothing hypocritcal about it and I'm not a huge fan of Jennifer Aniston. Nor do I think a divorce is ever all one-sided. However, Jennifer's boyfriend filed for divorce in mid 2010, well before they reportedly began dating in May 2011 and there is a big difference in that and Brad dating Angelina while still married, not seperated and living in the same house with his wife. I think Jennifer has handled it with dignity and class, has said little about it publically and has just tried to move on.

No, I never hoped that Brad would go back to Jennifer. They were not a good match to begin with. Now he has everything with Angelina including 3 biological and 3 adopted kids. They have homes all over the world and are very involved with world issues and charitable work. Why would he want to give all that up to go back to Jennifer? Wouldn't that be like giving up caviar and champagne and going back to a peanut butter sandwich?

Also, she gets it back in the form of a tx break, which pretty much is a refund of more than half of what she gets. Fortunately in these modern times no one has to follow any one else's ideas of what a wedding should be or represent. Their kids will be happy and I don't think they give a crap what anyone else thinks!

Jennifer Aniston is to into her own self and to immature. Brad made it known to Jen that he wanted kids, well work was more important and now she is alone and what 40 or so, her own doing. Again, she never matured he is a very mature and caring Man. Angelina has proven to be quiet the gal, and they seem to match each other in everything that they do. I wish them both well.
