George Zimmerman Settles In At County Jail, Buys Playing Cards And Jolly Ranchers

George Zimmerman, who earlier this week was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, seems to be settling into his new accommodations at the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Fla.

His cell is about 67 square feet. There's a toilet and two beds, a pillow and some sheets. But he has no television or roommate: Because of the "high profile nature" of the case against him, Zimmerman is in a segregated unit, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Zimmerman, 28, will get three meals a day: breakfast at 4:00 a.m., lunch at 10:30 a.m. and dinner at 4:00 p.m. He'll also get three hours of recreation time per week, weather permitting.

He has been in custody since Wednesday evening, but he has wasted no time in making his stay a bit more comfortable, according to the sheriff’s office.

So far Zimmerman has purchased $79.84 worth of toiletries, undergarments and snacks. He stocked up on Jolly Ranchers, "beef sticks," tortilla chips and root beer, contact lens solution, playing cards and shampoo, among other toiletries and sundries. His account balance is down to $41.16, according to officials.

According to a handout for inmates at the jail, use of the commissary is "a privilege and not a right," and inmates "will normally be allowed to order from the commissary two times per week." Only those on an inmate's visitation list are allowed to deposit money in their commissary account.

The pamphlet also provides information on other important jail policies, including visitation, phone calls and inmate relations.

On his commissary listing, notice his race... is listed as W.... ? And he purchased no bandages or first aid items..? Last night, the police listed for the record, nose bleeds, head dash in the back... next day neighbors saw huge bandages... on the back of his head and butterfly bandages huge...across his nose. My point... not to convincing enough at this time or to try and see how his injuries could be that terrible and therefore he had to use his fire arm to kill someone !!?? Even to want to believe, how can this represent a SYG defense?

Didn't the event occur over a month ago? I am no superhuman but I would assume my wounds wouldn't require bandages after that amount of time. Additionally, bandages would most likely not be required to be paid for.

Perhaps ... but not according to the injuries (hearsay) his brother, friend and father claim he substained during his battle with the teenager Trayvon. His neighbors claim he has been seen wearing bandages.. just up to his arrest- if that is what they claim (again, hearsay) reported in the Orlando Sential.. this is my reason for posting my observance. If not likely to be paid for in commissary, then the medics at the jail would suppy and he could or would be wearing... just saying, I am not superhuman, but the injuries similiar stayed with me much longer more like years....

Normally, what an inmate eats or how they spend time, can be seen on Lockup..MSNBC every weekend. How GZ is spending his time, is baffling.. because.. if..now only if,

he was injured as he the SPD and his family say he was on 2.26.2012, I would think he would be spending his time in a prision ward, not a certain footer cell, eating and playing card games. This is why the whole defense regarding "self defense" makes no sense. I had a head injury, right after, I looked in the mirror I could hardly see myself, blurred vision but my eyes were black and blue... and whole face twisted.. not from a sucker punch, but falling down and hitting my head... now I see the distracters leaping over the actual fight, going straight to the timeline of the shooting.. eye witnesses cannot determine very much to support his theory or account of the confrontation... therefore the importance of the self defense is to be in such a life threatening hurdle, with no possible way out but death. I am only repeating, but the gut feeling and experience leads me not to believe GZ side of what happened, too bad their isn't an eye witness's account..not after the tumbles, but before and during!

This might be relavent had he not armed himself and followed, ( stalked ), this teenage boy. What was the point of following, ( hunting ), this child? Walking through his neighborhood after curfew? Had he not followed Trayvon this would not have happened. How would you respond to an armed person stalking you for no apparent reason? How was it self defense when he scared the heck out of this boy? I know I would fight back if an armed person confronted me.

Gee I do seem to recall saying something about the prosecutor talking to witnesses the Sanford PD blew off and the possibility of security camera video. Gee I called that one. That's most likely why she said to his Dream Team 2 weeks ago..................boys it ain't looking good. Film at 11:00. When they broke the news to Z he went ga - ga and called the prosecutor, in my opinion, trying to see if it was a bluff. Then they bailed because he was out of communicado and couldn't handle the news. IF the video supported his claim that he was attacked he would never have been arrested. There is no possibility that either of his lawyers would let this go this far if he legitimately had any real self defense proof. So take a bit to think about what is known and and a bit of reading between the lines. Oh all you Z boys remember to donate to his defense fraud, er, fund today, before he pleads out. Fanned

He shared a locker with another kid. The bookbag could have been the other child's property. In these days, children will get "suspended" for a short time from school rather than to "snitch." Oh, by the way, his body was tested for drugs, and I do not think he tested positive for anything.

It is great that GZ, that women beating, police attacking, child murdering, pedophile, and sociopath/psychopath is behind bars. Why not send your friend a box of Vaseline for in the future when he drops the soap.

All I have to say is...I'm glad he's finally in jail! It's too bad the arrest took this long, but at least it occurred. Society is, at least temporarily, protected from this man. Also, it's pleasing to know that at the rate he buys things, he'll be out of money by his second or third "shopping trip." I have no idea who would go into the jail and give him money...but I certainly hope no one does not! There's a reason why jail conditions aren't pleasant!

He hasn't been in there long enough to work and save his own money, nor is he with general population. However, if he keeps buying junk food like he did on his first trip to the commisary, he's going to look like George on the mugshot in the orange jumpsuit by the time he goes to trial.
