Bobbie Kugler Admits Setting Fatal Fire That Killed Four Of Her Children

Bobbie Kugler allegedly told investigators that she started the fatal fire that killed four of her children when she burned photos of her boyfriend.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- An upstate New York woman charged with arson and manslaughter in connection with a fire that killed four of her children reportedly told investigators the blaze started when she set pictures of her boyfriend on fire inside her house.

The Democrat and Chronicle of Rochester reports Monday that 31-year-old Bobbie Kugler told police she tossed the burning photos on a dresser filled with combustible materials. The newspaper says the account is contained in a felony complaint charging Kugler with fourth-degree arson and four counts of second-degree manslaughter.

Kugler was arrested Friday and has pleaded not guilty. She's being held in Monroe County Jail on $300,000 bail. She's due in Rochester City Court on Wednesday.

First of all it looks as if they lived filthy. Burning bioyfriend pictures or not, this trash was not a good mother. And as of now, people on welfare with no health insurance get much cheaper/better birth control than us working with benefits do. Why this woman had so many children (on government funding no doubt) is beyond me. They were obviously by many different fathers, and none were paying child support I'm sure. These kids had a bad life to begin with, none of it their fault. This is a sad story, but unfortunatley, this is quality of life the government is now supporting and we will/are seeing more of this type of behavior.

In our culture why is the government trying to promote over-population, create more unwanted children and more unplanned pregnancies by making abortion and birth control harder to get? Shouldn't we be doing everything we can to make sure all children are planned and wanted?

I have spent a lot of time trying to figure this out as well. The right-wingers are making contraception and abortion illegal, which means women are forced into pregnancy and motherhood without being economically, mentally and spiritually ready. This same group despises "welfare," so many of these women and children are living in poverty because they must be punished for...having sex?? I don't understand the broader ideology behind restricting women's physical and economic health. Can anyone explain this to me?

How is it the older kids didn't escape when their friends did? My very jaded guess is that there were drugs/alcohol involved, a sleepover "party". Many parents, even one's who look good on the surface, put their need for gratification over any need their child/children might have. Having babies when serially single is not good for any of them. Selfish, selfish woman.

I think that it is not necessary to swamp him, she has to feel already rather guilty...
But I have a question: why she survived while his children not? She let burn the house while she was outside? She did not try to help them? If I had been on his place,I shall have been ready to die to save at least one from it.

There has to be more to this story than she set some pictures on fire on a dresser. Did she set the fire while the children were asleep? Did she leave the children alone with the fire burning? Did she suffer any injuries? Since you can see a fire that you deliberately set getting out of control, there should have been time to get the children out. There has to be more to this story.
