'NYC 22' Premiere: Adam Goldberg And Leelee Sobieski Suit Up

There was nothing groundbreaking about the premiere of "NYC 22" (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on CBS), but in that it fit very well into CBS's current lineup of crime procedurals. As with those other shows, it all comes down to the characters, and there are certainly a fun variety of them.

Like "Rookie Blue," "NYC 22" follows a group of new police officers fresh from the academy as they start their new jobs on the streets, and it stars a pretty young woman -- this time Leelee Sobieski. In New York, though, the streets are meaner, and their coworkers may well be meaner as well. By the end of this hour, two officers found themselves in a hostage situation with a gunman, while the rest of them found themselves in a gang battle, of sorts.

Harper is like a veteran rookie, played by Adam Goldberg, who joined the force after getting let go from a long career at a local newspaper. He used his own experience to help talk the man down enough that they were able to regain control of the situation, with some help from his wife. For all their hard work in both situations, the officers got yelled at for never using their radios to call for backup.

The new drama "NYC 22" continues Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
