Mark Ruffalo, 'Foxcatcher': Actor Joins Steve Carell And Channing Tatum In Drama

Mark Ruffalo Joins Steve Carell In New Drama

If you believe Marvel president Kevin Feige, actor Mark Ruffalo won't get a chance to star in his very own Hulk movie any time soon. Good thing, too, since Ruffalo is so busy with about seventeen other projects. According to Variety, Ruffalo is negotiating to star opposite Steve Carell and Channing Tatum in "Foxcatcher."

Directed by Bennett Miller ("Moneyball"), the new film focuses on the relationship between John du Pont (Carell), the millionaire schizophrenic heir to the du Pont chemical fortune, and David Schultz, a gold medal-winning Olympic wrestler. Ruffalo would play Schultz, who befriended du Pont, and -- spoiler alert -- was later shot and killed by the man on his millionaire dollar Pennsylvania estate. The film gets its title from the name of the wrestling facility that du Pont built on his property.

Miller has only directed two feature films, but they've been Oscar darlings. His first feature was "Capote," which earned Philip Seymour Hoffman a Best Actor trophy and grabbed four other nominations, including Best Picture. This year, Miller's "Moneyball" scored six nominations, including Best Picture. Considering both Hoffman and "Moneyball" star Brad Pitt procured Best Actor nominations after working with Miller, perhaps Carell will want to clear calendar space for February of 2014.

As for Ruffalo, in addition to starring as Bruce Banner in "The Avengers" and negotiating for this "Foxcatcher" role, the star just finished work on the magician heist drama "Now You See Me" and the sex comedy "Thanks for Sharing." He's also attached to star in "The Normal Heart" for Ryan Murphy and "Can a Song Save Your Life?" for director John Carney ("Once").

"Foxcatcher" is set to begin shooting this October in Pittsburgh.
