Syria's Homs Destruction: Shelling Shatters Northern City (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Syria's Homs Shattered After Months Of Shelling

After months of shelling by security forces, parts of Syria's city of Homs have been left in ruins.

Homs has been the capital of resistance in the 13-month long conflict between opposition forces and the regime of president Bashar Assad. Government troops shelled the city in a brutal weeks-long siege in February 2012 that killed hundreds of people. Despite Assad's agreement to a U.N.-brokered ceasefire, the Syrian regime continues to pound the city intermittently.
