Energy Star Buildings: Los Angeles Leads Nation In Energy Star Buildings Since 2008

Last week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its annual list of cities with the highest number of Energy Star buildings. Los Angeles was first on the list again, where it has remained since 2008. Our city is up 149 buildings from last year, with a total of 659.

"More and more organizations are discovering the value of Energy Star as they work to cut costs and reduce their energy use," said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson in a press release.

The Brentwood Medical Plaza, the City of LA Public Works Building, CAA, the Directors Guild of America, the Fox Plaza and Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union are just a few of our many forward-thinking establishments. Many Los Angeles school district campuses, including elementary schools, are certified as well.

As of 2009, commercial buildings certified with Energy Star seals-of-approval garnered a tax deduction of up to $1.80 per square foot.
