Le Parker Meridien Sees Concrete Flood After Nearby Construction Accident (PHOTO)

A construction accident near the posh Le Parker Meridien hotel in Midtown caused quite a spectacle on Wednesday, breaking a wall and sending a flow of wet concrete and debris to seep into the The Knave, the hotel's cafe.

Bernard Gershon was having coffee with a friend when the accident occurred and described the chaotic scene:

We heard a cracking sound, so we thought we should get up. Then we heard loud cracking, then we were running like mad out to 57th Street. One minute I'm sipping a cappuccino, the next minute I'm running for my life from a wall of cement.

A hotel representative explained, "Due to construction next door, the wall in Knave, our espresso bar was broken through. It was contained in Knave and nothing reached the main lobby of the hotel. Fortunately nobody was injured and FDNY was called into action immediately."

The accident comes only months after a hotel guest complained about the fracas coming from the construction site.

In 2011, Le Parker Meridien raised a few eyebrows by beginning to offer rooms by the hour. From 11AM to 3PM, rates are $150 an hour.
