The race for the Latino vote is on.

Two days after the Republican National Committee announced a new effort to attract Latino voters, the Obama campaign is out on Wednesday with the first in a series of ads targeting Hispanic voters.

The four ads feature Latino Obama for America organizers, each of whom discusses in Spanish their experience with education. They are part of a larger effort called Latinos for Obama, which also launched on Wednesday.

That campaign, according to a press release, is "the largest ever national effort to engage Latino Americans in their communities and involve them in the upcoming election through voter registration, volunteering and voting." The campaign will also send organizers to Latino-heavy neighborhoods and colleges in Arizona, which went to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008, The New York Times reported on Sunday.

Obama won two-thirds of the Latino vote in 2008 and still leads his Republican challengers. But his approval rating among Latinos has slipped from 58 percent in 2010 to 49 percent in 2011.

In the ad below, an organizer named Ernesto Apreza discusses why he supports Obama:
