Make A Backyard Water Fountain That Spouts Fire (VIDEO)

Backyard water features can add a serene and organic look to any home. But, add some fire and the effects can be, well, exciting. Combining these two seemingly incompatible elements may seem unnatural in theory, but watch this clip and observe as flickering flames emerge from a tranquil pool of water, and you'll see just how romantic and even luxurious a fire fountain can be.

However, we'll be the first to admit that a installing a fire fountain seems a bit labor intensive, so we have to give it to the masterminds over at the DIY Network who took it upon themselves and came up with two ways to create the backyard focal piece. The first is very much like a fire pit within a water fountain. It's meant to look as if 2-feet-high flames are rising straight out of a wood pit. And, for the second (and more showy) idea, a stone basin is filled with water and rigged with gas lines that make it look as if flames are just gliding over the water surface.
