Dick Clark: Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg Pay Tribute To TV Legend On 'The View'

The ladies of "The View" kicked off Thursday's show with a thoughtful conversation about the life and legacy of television icon Dick Clark.

Clark died on Wednesday morning after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 83 years old.

Goldberg started the conversation by saying that, "younger people may not realize how much he actually changed pop culture forever with 'American Bandstand'."

Goldberg grew nostalgic as she recalled watching the television show in her youth. "I remember [American Bandstand] was the thing you watched because you'd get up and, you had cartoons on Saturday morning, and you knew you were no longer a cartoon person when you started watching 'American Bandstand,'" she said. "And I saw every conceivable performer, black and white."

Walters weighed in and highlighted the longevity of Clark's career. "He worked almost until the end. He loved to work, even after his stroke," she said. "We can call this one a legend, and that one a legend—he is," Walters said.
