The Huffington Post   First Posted: 04/20/2012 2:54 pm Updated: 08/09/2012 9:37 am

Any ol' Pinterest user can post a pretty picture and call it a day. But creating a carefully-curated Pinterest page full of well-tailored boards, original content, and lots of interesting pins is a skill very few pinners have truly mastered. Those part of this super-user breed have attracted masses of followers with their pinning prowess.

If you're new to Pinterest and you're looking for some great tips to get started, we've got a list of the 27 most beautiful pinboards you need to check out. We've also pinned down (sorry) a list of the most popular users, courtesy of Repinly, a Pinterest directory site that offers a real-time list of the social network's most popular users. (You can also check out Repinly to find a ton more Pinterest data, such as what's trending across various categories, Repinly co-founder Rami Madi said in a press release announcing the directory earlier this week.)

Flip through the slideshow to view Pinterest's most-popular users, ranked by number of followers. Then, make sure to check out 11 awesome Pinterest tools that will help you pin like one of these pros.

What are your best Pinterest tips? Share them in the comments (below), tweet them at us (@HuffPostTech) or send them via email (technology@huffingtonpost.com).

One of my favorites so far is http://pinterest.com/uhoneymoons/activity/ pin boards by unforgettable honeymoons, a honeymoon travel agency with the most wonderful photos and website. So yep, it's full of lady stuff, I suppose some of the Guys enjoy looking at Honeymoon/Destination wedding photos, Brides stuff, etc. as well!!

You might not be aware of the fact that Pinterest assigns a certain amount of Pinners to you when you open up your Pinterest account. I believe that many of the Pinners you name as most popular are popular because Pinterest has chosen them...not because people themselves have. I know that when I opened my account I was assigned several of these "popular" pinners...and most people would just leave them and not delete them and choose pinners to follow themselves. Hence, you have pinners who are followed by many...with or without merit.

True... I dropped all those pinners that I did not personally pick. I must have had 6 with all more than 500,000 followers. It's a shame Pinterest did this.

once again the author trots out another story about pinterest without knowing the real story.

pinterest is built on copyright infringement where people feel they can go grab intellectual property (photography) without authorization. upon "pinning" images the site unlawfully strips the copyright data from the photos and by doing so puts their members in legal peril.

in essence, the author just exposed those infringing on others work which plays into those now drawing up lawsuits. so a word of caution to pinterest users, pin "your own" photography and not that of others. otherwise, you might get pinned to pay out some pretty hefty damages, plus per the pinterest terms of service, the site legal fees as well.

Yeah, like Jane Wang (Ben Silbermann's MOTHER) has gotten permission for these 15,000 pins.
