Ryanair Launches Hotel Comparison Site (PHOTOS)

Ryanair Gets Into Hotel Business

Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary announced Wednesday that the famously-budget airline is getting into the hotel business.

The company has launched RyanairHotels.com, accessible through the airline's main site, and will offer the "guaranteed" lowest prices for over 300,000 hotels, according to The Wall Street Journal.

"Our comparison website will provide details of hundreds of thousands of hotels worldwide from cheap and cheerful two-star to fancy five-star hotels...And we will refund any difference if a customer finds a better rate elsewhere," O'Leary said at a news conference in a London hotel room.

O'Leary added to Marketingmagazine.co.uk: "There are millions of price comparison websites out there. There’s very few that guarantee you the lowest price." Check out his interview from London here.

O'Leary, ever one to grab headlines, has used interesting business tactics to promote his airline and keep it afloat. Earlier this month, Ryanair announced that it would start creating its in-flight magazine on thinner paper (it will also double as the in-flight menu) and confirmed that it had asked flight attendants to watch their weight in an effort to conserve fuel. In March, the airline said that it would start charging 10 pounds for emergency exit row seats.

Ryanair is famous for its sexy calendar of flight attendants (see below). Wonder if O'Leary has any influence on the maid service at the hotels on his site...
