Urban Ag Project Gets Big Bucks

By John Gallagher

One of Detroit's leading proposals for innovative urban agriculture is getting a boost in the form of a $1-million grant from the Erb Family Foundation.

The Bloomfield Hills-based foundation announced today that it was gifting $1 million in four annual $250,000 payments to RecoveryPark, a proposal to employ recovering addicts to grow food, raise fish at a vacant industrial site, and otherwise create new jobs and tax base for the city through local food initiatives.
