Helen Keller Sunglasses: Chinese Company Chooses Unlikely Icon For Eyewear (VIDEO)

Are Those Helen Keller Sunglasses You're Wearing?

No, this isn't a joke.

A Chinese eyewear company has named a pair of sunglasses after Helen Keller, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Cue the reactions. MSN quips that they're looking forward to "the Beethoven branded earphones," while TIME magazine explains Keller is a widely known icon in China, where she's admired for her philanthropic values and her ability to overcome her disability to make an impact on the world.

Still, as Jezebel points out, Helen Keller never even wore sunglasses.

But spokesperson Chen Wenjing told the Wall Street Journal that they were aware Helen Keller was blind, but chose the figure for what she represented, not because of her blindness. So... we guess it's OK?

Check out the company's promotional video above.
