'Law And Order: SVU' Season 14? Mariska Hargitay Officially Signs New Contract

Will 'SVU' Be Back? Mariska Officially Signs On For More

If "Law & Order: SVU" returns for Season 14, series star Mariska Hargitay will officially be a part of it. Although the star confirmed plans to stick around in a video presented to reporters in January 2012, Hargitay's new deal only officially came together recently, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"I'll be back. I can't leave this show," Hargitay, who has played Detective Olivia Benson since the show's 1999 debut, said in January. "I'm having too much fun."

According to THR, Hargitay's new deal does not mean the show will be back for a Season 14. The long-running Dick Wolf drama recently hit series low ratings.

"Law & Order: SVU" has gone through a rebirth of sorts after a cast shake-up. Christopher Meloni left the NBC procedural after Season 12 and newbies Kelli Giddish and Danny Pino joined the fold for Season 13. "SVU" also got a new showrunner when Warren Leight joined the series.

Before the start of Season 13, Hargitay told reporters on the "SVU" set that she was open-minded about her future with the series thanks to the quasi-reboot.

"What I've learned is you don't know what the future brings and everything is new," she said. "Everything is fresh."

During Season 13, the show began exploring Detective Olivia Benson's personal life, giving her a love interest in Harry Connick Jr.'s district attorney character.

Hargitay reportedly makes about $500,000 per episode.
